SOS RHINO and BRF VIDEO WIN NATIONAL VIDEO AWARDS
On August 21, 1998, after months of preparation and eager anticipation,
the SOS Rhino promotional video made its public debut at the Black
Rhino Foundation/SOS Rhino Benefit at the House of Blues in Chicago.
The production was made possible by the Black Rhino Foundation,
Dr. Nan Schaffer, and VisualMedia.
Sister Hazel played to a packed crowd.
Very special thanks go to Maggie Heydt and John Marcinek of the
Black Rhino Foundation for staging this successful event.
In addition to helping raise over $8,000, the benefit video won
two National Telly Awards in the categories "Nature and Wildlife"
and "Fundraising."
This is an amazing accomplishment--kudos to all! A lot of hard work
was required to assemble the program, including hours of editing,
logging and selecting footage, and developing graphics.
Special thanks to Thomas Burkholder, senior editor; Adrian Dinu,
audio engineer; Dan Ablan, animation; and Dima Elissa, producer/director.
And extra thanks to Dr. Nan Schaffer for her spirit, artistic pespective,
executive producing skills, and her contribution of 18 years worth
of video footage.
The Telly Awards program was founded in 1980 to showcase
outstanding non-network and cable commercials. The competition was
expanded several years ago to include film and video productions.
When the Tellys program started, David E. Carter was chosen to be
the show administrator. He has published over 70 books on advertising
and logos. This experience, combined with his strong TV background
(Clio winner, 7-time Emmy winner, and sketch producer for the Johnny
Carson show) made him a natural choice to head the competition.
Over the past 20 years, the Telly Awards has become a well-known,
highly respected national competition. Visit the Tellys web site
